INTEMPERANCE
Lilla N. Cushman furnished to the Chicago Sun a bit of verse for possible blackboard use on the wine glass:
There’s danger in the glass! Beware
lest it enslaves. They who have drained
it find, alas! too often, early graves.
It sparkles to allure, with its rich, ruby
light; there is no antidote or cure,
only its course to fight. It changes
men to brutes; makes women bow
