“The banefull plot of Godwin’s treacherie,
And Alfred’s rufull end,” quoth Memorie,
“With doubt may shake a weake belieuing mind,
Which to resolue, no better proofe I find
Then Godwin’s selfe, who in his turne shall tell
After prince Alfred’s death, what him befell,
