From his own country and becometh old,

Weighed with winters, weary in mind,

And finds in wandering the forest wood

430 Where a bower he builds: with branches and herbs,

With rarest of twigs, he raises his dwelling,

His nest in the wood. Great need he hath

That he gain again his gladsome youth

In the flame of fire that he may find new life,

435 Renew his youth, and his native home,

His sunbright seat, he may seek again
