The Strolling Player’s Apology.

Most potent, gay, irreverend signiors,

My very noble and approv’d good fellows;

That I have been a vagrant strolling player,

It is most true; true, I have been a mummer;

The very head and front of my profession,

Hath this extent; no more. Loud am I in speech,

And little bless’d with the smooth phrase of towns;
