His eyes they were blood shot, his nose it was red,

And I said to myself, as I turn’d from the sight,

“It is clear he was up till a late hour of night.”

Then I said to my heart, “Here’s a lesson for me!

That man’s but a picture of what I might be.

But no, I am cautious in all that I eat;
