Towards long-sought reform. Then the Home Ruler
Roaring for freedom, with a piteous tale
Told of his country’s misery. Then a Radical
Full of reform and moving with the time,
Scenting abuses, sudden and quick to right ’em,
Seeking the people’s happiness
Even at the lordling’s cost. And then the Independent
With smooth-tongued speech, and pocket well lined,
With views severe and stuck-up formal mien,
Full of advice and smug hypocrisy.
