Invoking the Stroke in the boat that they “place.”
With a laughing, Bass-quafting, and eke shandy-gaffing
And chaffing the cads till they’re black in the face,
And hurraying, and laying the odds—and then paying—
And that’s how the Gentlemen come to the Race!
