And the noise of their cheering resembled the roar
Of galley-slaves plying the criminal oar.
Like the fell rebel Orr, in his livery of green,
O’Connell and Catholic Clergy were seen;
And their hopes and their actions, ’tis very well known,
Are to level our Church, and to hurl down the Throne.
But the Protestant voice came strong on the blast,
And O’Connell and Treason grew sick as it passed,
And the hopes of his traitorous party grew chill,
And their hearts quaked with sorrow, their voices were still.
