Punch’s Almanac for 1881 contained several parodies of Moore’s songs, of which the opening lines were as follows:—
Quaint and queer were the gems she wore,
A golden “pig” in each ear she bore
She’d flies and beetles and snake-shaped bands,
And the rummiest rings on her snow-white hands,
