Rev. S. Baring-Gould gives me these variations, from the West of England:

‘O tell her to bleach it on yonder fresh grass,

Where never a foot or a hoof did pass.’

‘O tell him to thresh it in yonder barn,

That hangs to the sky by a thread of yarn.’
