⁂ Mr. De Clercq distinguishes eight dialects, viz.: Bantik, Bentenan, Ponosakan, Toumbulu, Toumpakewa, Toundano, Tounsawang, and Tounsea, all of which differ so considerably that some scholars hold them to be distinct languages.
