"No." Mrs. Porter said shortly.
"Did you send cards?"
"No."
"You should have done so, shouldn't you?"
"I suppose so, but I don't care."
"Why don't you want to go?"
"I don't like Mrs. Tad-Wallington. She wears her dresses too low."
"Maybe she does, but I think we should be polite to her."
