And Lakshmaṇ with his bow in hand

Walked hindmost of the little band.

As onward through the wood they went,

With great delight their eyes were bent

On rocky heights beside the way

And lofty trees with blossoms gay;

And streamlets running fair and fast

The royal youths with Sítá passed.

They watched the sáras and the drake

On islets of the stream and lake,
