A horse and cart
Had Billy Smart,
To play with when it pleased him;
The cart he’d load
By the side of the road,
And be happy if no one teased him.

Who ever saw a rabbit
Dressed in a riding habit,
Gallop off to see her friends, in this style?
I should not be surprised
If my lady is capsized,
Before she has ridden half a mile.

Boys and girls, come out to play,
The moon does shine as bright as day,
Leave your supper, and leave your sleep,
And meet your play-fellows in the street;
Come with a whoop, and come with a call,
And come with a good will, or not at all.
Up the ladder and down the wall,
A half-penny roll will serve us all.
You’ll find milk and I’ll find flour,
And we’ll have pudding in half an hour.
