When Abe was elected ’twas late in the Fall,
As President, over Seceshers and all,
And by all the rails in the Union did swear—
Jacksonian like—to act on the square.
Seceshers were trying to frighten old Abe,
By blowing and stealing—their favorite trade—
But when they had made a considerable noise,
Old Abe gave a yell for some of “The Boys.”
The yell it was heard, and it had its effect,
To play “Help your neighbor,” “The Boys” did collect;
