"One who dwelleth on the castled Rhine."
—Longfellow, in his exquisite little poem on "Flowers," says:
"Spake full well, in language quaint and olden,
One who dwelleth on the castled Rhine,
When he called the flowers so blue and golden,
Stars that in earth's firmament do shine."
To whom does he allude as dwelling "on the castled Rhine?" Cowley says:
"Upon the flowers of Heaven we gaze;
The stars of earth no wonder in us raise."
