The second point in literature to which Mr O’Brien is insensitive is tone. The third and final want is the sense of workmanship. Mr O’Brien, however, has qualities which are as incontestable as his limitations. He has a keen, if not infallible, sense, of the powerful in motive, the original and trenchant in conception.
