“Jesus, mercy, love, and peace”
sings his self-appointed editor.
In “Forgiveness of Injuries,” the very title of which might have caused him to pause, a happy specimen of his peculiar
art and animus is given. Father Faber’s first verse read
“Oh! do you hear that voice from heaven—
Forgive and you shall be forgiven?
No angel hath a voice like this;
Not even Mary’s song of bliss
From off her throne can waft to earth
A promise of such priceless worth.”
