Are brilliant as the rainbow’s. Sapphire too

And silver lent their aid. Shells of each hue

Were curiously inlaid, and met the eyes

As things unearthly there. Such was that car

That shot its rich effulgency afar.

’Twas lined with down, soft as the swan’s white breast,

And far more glorious tinted than the crest

Of any bird that skims the earth or main.

Once a white plant that ’neath the waters grew,

Which the young nymphs that dwelt there, gathering knew
