The following is said to have been the epitaph on the tomb of Fair Rosamond, at Godstow:—
Hic jacet in tomba, Rosamundae non Rosamundi,
Non redolet sed olet quae redolere solet.
TRANSLATED.
Within this tomb lies the world's fairest rose;
