i 1. locative; always used before names of places; always with adverbs of time and direction; ifai, where? i daluma, in the midst; i Ramarama, at Port Adam; i kade manga na, at that time; i angita, when? i se, i sena, here. Forms the compound prepositions ifafo, i fara, i lao. S. i.

i 2. genitive; geni i Saa, a Sa'a woman; ro kesi kurui bata, two pieces of money; used to express purpose, lea i fasifa, go to purchase. S. i.

i 3. prefix to personal and demonstrative pronouns; inau, igoro, igia. S. i.

i 4. instrumental prefix forming noun from verb; kamu to eat areca nut, ikamu, a lime spatula.

i 5. verbal suffix; manata, to think, manatai, to pity. S. 'i.
