In Milton there are but two allusions. In the Masque of Comus:—
"By dimpled brook and fountain-brim,
The wood-nymphs, deck'd with daisies trim,
Their merry wakes and pastimes keep."
And in L'Allegro:[50]—
"Meadows trim with daisies pied."
The Tulip.
"The pied windflowers and the tulip tall."
