Influenced 'cavalier' poets of the 17th century, among whom was Herrick. His satiric verse largely influenced Pope in his 'Moral Essays' and 'Imitations of Horace', and Dryden in his satires. Jonson is an imitator of Horace in the way of poetical epistles and short lyrics.
