In this vocabulary the following conventions are used: the masculine form only of the adjective is given unless the feminine is formed in some irregular manner; verbs are not given as reflexive unless they are characteristically so; irregular verb forms are referred to the infinitive which in turn is referred to a numbered paragraph of the verb appendix; the infinitives of verbs having orthographic or radical changes are likewise referred to that appendix; S. A. stands for Spanish-American usage; aug. for augmentative and dim. for diminutive; abbr. for abbreviation; pp. for past participle. The meanings given are those that apply in this book.
