And sad it is to think he should feel so,
My candid reader, both for you and me.
For if things take a natural course you know,
Why they may chance to shock your modesty,
If you have any: yet, indeed, I trow
To be without it is almost an oddity,
'Tis common now-a-days; though folks 'tis said
Ne'er fail to doff it when they go to bed.
