With White and No. 9 needles, cast on 18 sts. 1st ROW: K across row. 2nd and 3rd ROWS: Inc 1 st at beg and end of each row. Repeat 1st to 3rd rows 5 times. NEXT 7 ROWS: K across each row. NEXT ROW: Inc 1 st at beg and end of row (44 sts). NEXT 34 ROWS: K across each row. NEXT ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row. NEXT 6 ROWS: K across each row. Repeat last 7 rows once (40 sts). NEXT ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row. NEXT 3 ROWS: K across each row. Repeat last 4 rows 3 times (32 sts). NEXT ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row. NEXT ROW: K across row. Repeat last 2 rows once. NEXT 7 ROWS: Dec 1 st at beg and end of each row (14 sts). Bind off.
FACING: Cast on 3 sts. 1st 3 ROWS: Work in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row) inc 1 st at beg and end of each row. 4th ROW: Inc 1 st at beg of row, YO, K 2 tog (beading), K 2, K 2 tog. 5th ROW: P across all sts working the YO as a st. Repeat 4th and 5th rows until strip is about 1½ inches less than necessary to fit from beg of cast on sts around cover to end of cast on sts. NEXT 2 ROWS: Continue in stockinette st, dec 1 st at beg and end of each row. Bind off. Sew to edge of cover having beading to inner edge. CORD: Work a ch 54 inches, cut yarn. Lace through beading. TRIM: LARGE FLOWER: With Watermelon ch 19, sl st in 1st st of ch, ch 12, sl st in same st, * ch 18, sl st in same st, ch 12, sl st in same st, repeat from * 3 times, cut yarn. SMALL FLOWER: With Orange ch 13, sl st in 1st st of ch, ch 8, sl st in same st, * ch 12, sl st in same st, ch 8, sl st in same st, repeat from * 3 times, cut yarn. STEMS: With Jade ch 15, cut yarn. Work another ch having 11 sts, cut yarn. LEAVES: (Make 5): Ch 10, sl st in 1st st of ch, cut yarn. With “STAR” MERCERIZED SEWING THREAD sew flowers, stems and leaves in position as illustrated. With Jade embroider French Knots (7 times around needle) in center of each flower.
