REMOVALS & WAREHOUSING DEPARTMENT

A PUBLIC TELEPHONE IS PROVIDED IN THIS DEPARTMENT FOR CUSTOMERS’ USE.

HARROD’S HARROD’S DEPOSITORY HARROD’S FURNITURE DEPOSITORY
HARRODS’ DEPOSITORIES AT BARNES.

ONE OF THE SAFEST AND MOST UP-TO-DATE STORAGE PLACES IN THE WORLD.

These spacious Depositories, which are completely isolated, stand in Harrods’ own grounds of 10 acres. They are constructed on fire-resisting principles—are thoroughly dry and well ventilated, thus ensuring the utmost cleanliness and safety for goods in storage. Huge hydraulic lifts take the loaded removal vans direct to the various floors for storage, which saves all straining and risk of damage to goods. Intending depositors are invited to apply for a card to visit this interesting establishment.

REMOVALS BY LAND OR SEA TO AND FROM ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD—ESTIMATES FREE

Inclusive estimates are submitted free of cost at any distance within forty miles. Estimators can be sent to any part of the Country on payment of their third-class return fares, or abroad on payment of reasonable expenses, chargeable only in the event of no business resulting. In cases where it is impracticable or inadvisable to remove furniture abroad in our well-known Railway Vans, estimates will be submitted for the packing and forwarding of it, in cases, to any part of the world.

REMOVALS ABROAD. UNIQUE FACILITIES.

REMOVAL
BY VAN

Our Continental Vans, built especially for this traffic, are constantly in transit and are frequently available on their return journey for our Clients, thus saving the carriage expense on the empty van one way. Favourable quotations can also be had per van load for shipment to any part of America.

FURNITURE
PACKED IN
CASES

The goods are packed at our well-known Barnes Depository, and are shipped direct from Wharf attached, by our own Lighters, which ply between this Wharf and all the London Docks. This is a very great advantage to Clients, as the cases are delivered free on board at a much lower rate than by road, and all the heavy Dock charges attached to the ordinary system are completely avoided.

THIS CONSTITUTES A SAVING OF SEVERAL POUNDS, EVEN ON A SMALL CONSIGNMENT OF FURNITURE

FROM SHIP TO DEPOSITORY.

Harrods’ Barges also take delivery from ships on their arrival at London, avoiding all Dock charges here also.

A POWERFUL SPECIALLY-CONSTRUCTED CRANE
has been erected at Barnes for transferring goods from Lighters to our Wharf, and vice versa.

We believe that no other firm in London can offer such advantages to those removing to or from Abroad.

August 31st, 1911.

I should like to say how thoroughly well satisfied I was with the way in which the work was performed. Among all the glass and china, of which the total amount was large, not a single breakage occurred. The pictures were carefully handled at both ends, and in dealing with the very heavy item of books, the men were patient and thorough from first to last, and they were obliging, civil and careful in all respects.

Yours faithfully, (Dr.) G. H. RENDALL.

Removal from Fernbrook, Mann Court Road, Hanwell, to Davenport, Stockport.

Yours faithfully, H. S. RUSSELL.

Removal from 12 Roland Gardens, to 8 Kensington Court Gardens, W.

October 14th, 1911.

In justice to the men employed by you for our removal to this address, I wish to say that they did their work admirably. They not only did all that was necessary with care and skill, but were most helpful to Mrs. Turner and my servants, and their conduct was all that could have been desired in every way. In the foreman you possess an invaluable servant and no praise would be too great for him.

Yours faithfully, E. F. TURNER.

Removal from Summers Place, Billingshurst, to 193 Queen’s Gate, S.W.

December 1st, 1911.

I write a few lines to say how thoroughly pleased I am at the way in which all our furniture, pictures, china, plate, etc., have been moved here from Sussex, and how admirably the work has been done by your foreman and his men at the Sussex end, and by your foreman and his men at this end; nothing could have been better managed and I am glad to be able to write you how well all has been managed.

Yours truly, (Mrs.) S. LEYLAND.

(Mrs.) L. BOTTENHAM.

Removal from Upper Chine House, Shanklin, to Montreux, Switzerland.

January 5th, 1912.

This is to certify that I am quite satisfied with the men sent by Harrods; everything has arrived in good order and they have been most civil and obliging, and given great satisfaction.

(Mrs.) J. COSTER.

Removal from Kensington to Store.

January 8th, 1912.

I wish to inform you that your men removed the furniture from my flat in a most workmanlike fashion. The tenants above and below me said they would not have known that moving was being done, had they not seen the cases. The Head Porter told me it was the tidiest and best managed move he had ever seen. A tenant of another flat told me she had been much struck with the excellent neatness re packing cases and general work she saw done from her windows (Flat 2.) I think you may hear from her later on. For myself, I cannot speak too highly of your excellent methods. You moved for us and stored our goods for one year some years ago, and when our furniture came back to us there was absolutely no fault to find, nothing but praise for excellent care shown. The thing that gave us most pleasure was the total absence of damp in every instance.

Yours very truly, (Mrs.) M. BREMNER.

Displaying Wedding Presents at the Hans Crescent Hotel.

January 9th, 1912.

I am writing just to express our satisfaction at the way your packers have done their work in removing and displaying the wedding presents.

Yours truly, (Mrs.) K. MANWARING.

Removal from Broadstairs, to Upper Norwood, S.E.

January 15th, 1912.

May I take this opportunity of saying how exceedingly well and carefully the whole move was carried out. Our thanks are particularly due to your foreman, who was civil and attentive throughout.

Yours faithfully, CHARLES GARTH.

Removal from Copenhagen to The Hermitage, Ascot.

November 1st, 1911.

I wish to say that I am most satisfied at the way in which the work has been carried out, and at the condition in which everything has arrived. I would particularly commend the foreman, who has shown himself to be a first-rate packer, and I cannot speak too highly of his civility and diligence.

Yours faithfully, LIONEL C. LIDDELL.

Pianoforte & Musical Instrument Department

A PUBLIC TELEPHONE IS PROVIDED IN THIS DEPARTMENT FOR CUSTOMERS’ USE.

The prospective purchaser will find this list a reliable guide of the best English and Continental Pianos. It contains only a small representation of Harrods’ enormous stocks, but every care has been taken to make it as representative as possible within the space limit. The majority of the instruments illustrated are always in stock at Harrods’, where purchasers have the advantage of testing the touch and tone of various makes side by side in the most spacious and elegant showrooms in the Kingdom.

Should it be desired, however, to purchase a Piano direct from the manufacturers, Harrods will be pleased to send an expert by appointment to accompany clients and offer advice in the selection of the instrument.

Any Piano selected from Harrods’ stock which is not approved may be exchanged free of charge within three months of the date of purchase for any other make of equal value, provided, of course, it has not been damaged in any way.

Harrods’ Equitable System of Deferred Payments
(With Surrender Value)
OFFERS SPECIAL FACILITIES FOR ACQUIRING PIANOS
BY QUARTERLY INSTALMENTS, EXTENDING OVER
A PERIOD OF ONE, TWO, OR THREE YEARS.

All Pianos in stock are marked at nett cash prices, and when purchased on above system, in most cases only 10 per cent. is added to the prices for the full three years.

(There are exceptions and variations in the case of certain makers, but generally speaking the above rule holds.)

The same terms apply where Harrods allow special discounts off Manufacturers’ List Prices, the full discounts, ranging from 20 per cent. upwards, are given and only 10 per cent. added for three years’ purchase.

In addition, should any purchaser of a Piano desire through unforeseen circumstances to discontinue payments, Harrods are quite willing to take the instrument back and treat the matter on the Monthly Hire Scale, and return any balance, provided of course that the instrument has been properly taken care of, kept in a dry, even temperature, and been regularly tuned by Harrods.

In the event of any purchase being completed in a shorter period than that originally arranged a special allowance is made from the full price.
