Half-Cup Gingerbread.
½ cup of sugar.
½ cup of butter.
½ cup of best molasses.
½ cup of sour milk.
½ pound of eggs.
½ pound of flour, or enough for good batter.
½ coffee-cup of raisins, seeded and halved.
½ table-spoonful ginger.
½ teaspoonful cinnamon.
½ dessert-spoonful soda, dissolved in hot water.
Cream butter, sugar, molasses and spices. Beat thoroughly before adding yolks and milk. Put in flour and whites alternately, then the soda-water. Mix well, and stir in the fruit dredged with flour.
Bake in one card or loaf.
