Sugar Gingerbread.

1 cup butter.

2 cups of sugar.

4 eggs, beaten very light.

1 cup of sour cream.

4½ cups of flour.

Juice of 1 lemon, and half the grated peel.

1 teaspoonful of cinnamon.

½ grated nutmeg.

1 table-spoonful ginger.

1 teaspoonful of soda, dissolved in hot water.

Bake in two loaves. It is very nice, and will keep several days if wrapped in a thick cloth.
