Fairmount Cake

2 cups flour
2 teaspoons Royal Baking Powder
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs
1/2 cup fresh grated cocoanut

Sift flour and baking powder three times; beat shortening and sugar to a cream; add milk and vanilla, then flour, a little at a time; beat until smooth; add eggs one at a time, stirring and beating batter well after each egg is added. Bake in greased loaf pan in moderate oven 1 hour. Cover with boiled icing, [page 16] and sprinkle with cocoanut.
