MOSES RECEIVES THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

Oc he cam faiger and fer him to,
And gan wið hem ſpeken ſo;

He reminds them of their deliverance from the Egyptians,

Of olde abraham and of ſarra bigeten

ðe gaf yſaac so manige ſunen,
ðe Ioſep dede ſo riche wunen;
His word gu wurðe digere[[322]] al-ſo lif,

and of God's kindness to their ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and Joseph.
Cumeð her forð, and beð alle reken,
And lereð wel quat he ſal ſpeken."

First Commandment.

Ne let ðu nogt min wurðfulhed

Third Commandment.
Min hali dai ðu halge wel,

Fourth Commandment.
Wurð ðin fader and moder ſo,
