§ 183. THE APPEARANCE TO THE DISCIPLES WITH ANOTHER COMMISSION

Jerusalem

Luke 24:44-49Acts 1:3-8
44 And he said unto them, These
are my words which I spake unto
you, while I was yet with you,
how that all things must needs be
fulfilled, which are written in the
law of Moses, and the prophets,
and the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their mind, that
they might understand the
scriptures; 46 and he said unto them,
Thus it is written [see Hos. 6:2],
that the Christ should suffer, and
rise again from the dead the third
day; 47 and that repentance 1and
remission of sins should be preached
in his name unto all the 2nations,
beginning from Jerusalem. 48 Ye are
witnesses of these things. 49 And
behold, I send forth the promise
of my Father upon you: but tarry
ye in the city, until ye be clothed
with power from on high.
3 to whom he also 3shewed himself
alive after his passion by many
proofs, appearing unto them by
the space of forty days, and
speaking the things concerning the
kingdom of God: 4 and, 4being
assembled together with them, he
charged them not to depart from
Jerusalem, but to wait for the
promise of the Father, which,
said he, ye heard from me: 5 for
John indeed baptized with water;
but ye shall be baptized 5with the
Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6 They therefore, when they were
come together, asked him, saying,
Lord, dost thou at this time
restore the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not
for you to know times or seasons,
which the Father hath 6set within
his own authority. 8 But ye shall
receive power, when the Holy
Ghost is come upon you: and ye
shall be my witnesses both in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and unto the uttermost
part of the earth.
