§ 78. THE SECOND WITHDRAWAL TO THE REGION OF TYRE AND SIDON AND THE HEALING OF THE DAUGHTER OF A SYRO-PHOENICIAN WOMAN

24 And from thence he arose,
and went away into the borders of
Tyre 3and Sidon. And he entered
into a house, and would have
no man know it: and he could
not be hid. 25 But straightway a
woman, whose little daughter
had an unclean spirit, having
heard of him, came and fell down
at his feet. 26 Now the woman was
a 4Greek, a Syrophoenician by
race. And she besought him that
he would cast forth the 1devil out
of her daughter.
27 And
he said unto her, Let the children
first be filled: for it is not meet
to take the children's 2bread and
cast it to the dogs. 28 But she
answered and saith unto him, Yea,
Lord: even the dogs under the
table eat of the children's crumbs.
29 And he said unto her, For this
saying go thy way; the 1devil is
gone out of thy daughter. 30 And
she went away unto her house,
and found the child laid upon the
bed, and the 1devil gone out. 		21 And Jesus went out thence,
and withdrew into the parts of
Tyre and Sidon.a
22 And behold, a
Canaanitish woman came out
from those borders, and cried,
saying, Have mercy on me, O
Lord, thou son of David; my
daughter is grievously vexed with
a 1devil. 23 But he answered her
not a word. And his disciples
came and besought him, saying,
Send her away; for she crieth
after us. 24 But he answered
and said, I was not sent but unto
the lost sheep of the house of
Israel. 25 But she came and
worshipped him, saying, Lord,
help me. 26 And he answered and
said, It is not meet to take the
children's 2bread and cast it to the
dogs. 27 But she said, Yea, Lord:
for even the dogs eat of the
crumbs which fall from their
masters' table. 28 Then Jesus
answered and said unto her, O
woman, great is thy faith: be it
done unto thee even as thou wilt.
And her daughter
was healed from that hour.
