DESCRIPTION.

Stem near a foot high, and slender: branches twiggy, and numerous.

Leaves by twos, opposite, three-sided, shining, and pressed to the branches.

Flowers terminal, mostly by twos: footstalks short, with two floral leaves coloured.

Empalement. Cup large: leaflets ovate, pointed, and red.

Blossom pitcher-shaped and red, with a slightly reflexed and pointed four-lobed border.

Chives. Eight hair-like tips, beardless, and within the blossom.

Pointal. Seed-bud turban-shaped, furrowed, and red, with honey-cups at the base.

Native of the Cape of Good Hope.

Flowers from May till August.
