SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
Heath, with bearded tips, within the blossom: leaves grow by fours: flowers yellow, of a cylinder shape, and large: the large branches are of a pyramidal form: the small branches are numerous, and crowded together: stem upright.
DESCRIPTION.
Stem shrubby, a foot and a half high, upright, branching at the base, then forming a simple pyramidal spike covered by short branches.
Leaves by fours, linear, turned inward, smooth, and lightly furrowed beneath: footstalks very short, and pressed to the stem.
Flowers numerous, standing out upon very short branches that are close to the stem.
Empalement. Cup double: the outer one three-leaved: the leaflets are ovate, and pointed: the inner ones four-leaved and longer.
Blossom cylindrical, an inch long, smooth, and yellow: with a four-lobed reflexed border.
