DESCRIPTION.

Stem thread-shaped, a span high, between erect and spreading, and very much branched.

Leaves by threes, lance-shaped, furrowed beneath, flat on the upper surface, smooth, and pressed to the branches.

Flowers grow by threes, and terminate the smaller branches. The footstalks are flesh-coloured, and furnished with three small coloured floral leaves.

Empalement. Cup four-leaved; the leaflets are spathula-shaped, flesh-coloured, and longer than the blossom.

Blossom very small, pitcher-shaped, of a deep flesh-colour, and pale at the base; the segments of the border spreading.

Chives. Eight hair-like threads; tips crested, and within the blossom.

Pointal. Seed-bud turban-shaped. Shaft within the blossom, and thread-shaped. Summit four-angled, and rolled back.

Native of the Cape of Good Hope.

Flowers from the month of July till October.
