Treatment: Dab the parts often with the following lotion:—

Recipe:

Goulard’s Extract of Lead,1 drachm.
Tincture of Opium,1 ”
Water to6 ounces.
Mix.

Or the following ointment may be tried:—

Goulard’s Extract of Lead,1 drachm.
Finely-powdered Boracic Acid,1 scruple.
Cream,1 ounce.
Mix.

Apply night and morning.

Some cooling medicine, as the following, does good:—

Cream of Tartar,1 ounce.
Bicarbonate of Potash,1 ”
Milk of Sulphur,1 ”
Powdered Sulphate of Magnesia,1 ”

From sufficient to cover a threepenny-piece to a teaspoonful[1] twice a day with food.
