NEXT ROUND: Do not join this or following rounds, place marker at beg of each round. Work 1 sdc in each st. Repeat last round 16 times, s c in next 2 sts, sl st in next st, cut yarn.
TOP: Ch 3, join to form a ring, ch 3, 11 d c in ring, place a marker. 2nd ROUND: 1 sdc in each st. Repeat last round 4 times. NEXT 2 ROUNDS: 2 sdc in each st. NEXT ROUND: 1 sdc in each st, sl st in next st, cut yarn.
POMPONS: Work 8. Wind yarn 55 times over a 3 inch cardboard, slip off cardboard, tie in center, cut both ends. Trim into shape and attach in position as illustrated. MOUTH: Cut 2 sections red felt each 1¾ x ¾ inch. Round edges of one side. Overcast the 2 sections tog and sew in place. EYES: Wind a scrap of black yarn 6 times over index finger, slip off finger, tie in center and attach in position. Work other eye to correspond and finish with ribbons as illustrated.
