A gay green grasshopper she had lit on,
A tiny toad from the side of the hill.
And once this in-con-sid-er-ate kitten,
While I was taking a two-minute nap,
Brought a small brown mouse that she had bitten,
And came and jumped right into my lap!
But when comes winter, this idle kitten,
Forgetting her hunts mid hill and grove,
Will cover her nose with one white mitten,
And sleep all day behind the stove!
