Near the south side of the church on a marble tomb-stone, adorned with a coat of arms, are the following lines on capt. Thomas Chevers, his wife, and a son who died at five days old.

Reader, consider well how poor a span,

And how uncertain is the life of man:

Here lie the husband, wife, and child, by death

All three in five days time deprived of breath.
