General of India in Council, and was nominated C.B.; commanded cavalry and 3 troops of Horse Artillery, at battle of Cawnpore, &c.; and 1st brigade of cavalry at siege of Lucknow, until severely wounded by musket ball through left elbow (United Service Club).
