E, using Orange Floss,—making a 12-petal flower with 6 lps in each petal. Edge—In Cream, sc thru all 6 lps of one petal, (ch 9, sc in next petal) 11 times, ch 9, sl st in 1st sc, ch 1, sc in next lp. ROW 2—*(Ch 5, sc) 3 times in same lp, ch 2, sc in next lp. Repeat from * around. End with ch 2, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 3—Ch 1, sc in next 5-ch lp, * ch 2, dc in next lp, (ch 3, dc) 3 times in same lp, ch 2, sc in next lp, ch 1, sk 2-ch in angle, sc in next 5-ch lp. Repeat from * around. End with ch 1, sl st in 1st sc. Cut 6” long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back.
2d BLOCK—Repeat to * in Row 3. **Ch 2, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next lp, ch 1, sl st in a point on 1st Block, ch 1, (dc, ch 3, dc) back in same lp on 2d Block, ch 2, sc in next lp, ch 1, sk 2-ch in angle, sc in next 5-ch lp. Repeat from ** to join next point to next point on 1st Block. Complete 2d Block as for 1st Block.
3d BLOCK—Join by 2 points to the next 2 points on 1st Block and by the next 2 points to 2 points on 2d Block. Continue to make and join Blocks. Join 6 in a circle around 1st (center) Block. Then make a 2d row around of 12 Blocks.
EDGE—Each corner Block has 6 free points around outside. With wrong-side-up, join Cream to 6th point, ch 15, sc in 1st free point on next Block. Ch 1, turn, 18 sc and 1 sl st in lp, ch 8, tr in next point on corner Block. * Ch 4, turn, tr in 3d sc on added lp between Blocks, (ch 4, tr in next 3d sc) 5 times, ch 4, sc in next point on next Block, * ch 12, sc in next point. Ch 1, turn, (7 sc, ch 4, sl st in last sc for a p, and 7 sc) all in 12-ch lp, (3 sc, a p and 2 sc) in each of eight 4-ch sps. Fasten off. MATERIALS—DAISY Mercerized Crochet Cotton size 30 (400-yd. balls):—2-balls White, Cream or Ecru. Crochet hook size 13. CRAZY DAISY WINDER. Size—21”.
LARGE MOTIF—(Size—4¼“)—Daisy—Following instructions on page [2], Illustration C, wind 6 times around spokes 1 and 2 of Winder, twice around spokes 3 and 4, twice around spokes 5 and 6, 6 times around spokes 7 and 8, twice around spokes 9 and 10 and twice around spokes 11 and 12. Cut 20” long and weave center as in Ill. E, making 37 sts around (3 rows). Edge—Sc in all 6 lps of one 6-lp petal, * (ch 9, dc in 2d ch st from sc, ch 2, sc in one lp of next petal, ch 9, dc in 2d ch st from sc, ch 2, sc in 2d lp of same petal) twice, ch 9, dc in 2d ch st from sc, ch 2, sc thru all 6 lps of next petal. Repeat from * 3 times, ending with a sl st in 1st sc. ROW 2—Sl st to center st of next lp, ch 6, dc in same st, * ch 5, (dc, ch 3, dc) in one lp of center st of next lp. Repeat from * around. End with ch 5, sl st in 3d st of 1st 6-ch. ROW 3—Ch 5, (2 tr, ch 2, 1 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) all in next 3-ch sp, * (3 tr, ch 2, 1 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) all in next 3-ch shell. Repeat from * around. Make 10 Motifs and join into a border circle as follows:—2d MOTIF—Repeat to ** in Row 4. Ch 3, sl st in final shell on 1st Motif, ch 3, 4 tr back in next 2-ch sp on 2d Motif, 4 tr in 1st 2-ch sp on next shell, ch 3, sl st in next shell on 1st Motif, ch 3, 4 tr back in next 2-ch sp on 2d Motif and complete as for 1st Motif. Join remaining 8 Motifs in same way, leaving 10 shells free between joinings around outside of each Motif and 6 on inside of circle. Be careful to join so that a heavy 6-lp petal in center of each Motif points directly towards center of doily.
