I can at least state that I have seen a fifth volume of his comedies, (Madrid, 1636, in quarto), which contains eleven dramas, chiefly historical and spiritual.

Agust. de Salazar y Torres, Madrid, 1692, in two volumes, published by one of the author’s friends, who on his part was a perfect Gongorist, as the title of the collection sufficiently proves.
[558] Nicolas Antonio, a very incompetent judge in matters of taste, lauds Antonio de Mescua to the skies. But he is seldom mentioned by other authors.
