Ask thy father and he will show thee,
Thine elders, and they will tell thee,
When the Most High divided the lands to the nations,
When he separated the children of men,
He set bounds to the people,
That the numbers of Israel might have room to dwell.
For the Lord’s portion is his people,
Jacob is the extent of his inheritance.
He found him in a desert land,
And in the waste howling wilderness.
