The body is made of ⅜ in. tough steel, strengthened at front by a jointless steel bar frame, against which the door closes and behind which the bolts shoot.

The Drill-proof Door, ½ in. thick steel, is strengthened to 1½ in. over lock and to ⅞ in. over other vital parts.

Lock case of steel, T section 3½ × 3 × ⅜ in., fitted with numerous steel sliding bolts, and at back a continuous fixed bolt the full height of the door.

Drill proof rivets are used in attaching the steel lockcase to the door.

The Lock. A Ratner patent, 9 lever Interchangeable, Key Lock, Unpickable, Violence and Gunpowder Proof, and further protected by plates of Drill-proof steel.

Fire-proof Chambers.—Lined throughout with wrought steel chambers, 4 in. in thickness, filled with best non-conducting composition, in which is mixed chemical material evolving moisture on the application of heat.
