The past tense in Bohemian is formed from the past participle and present tense of the auxiliary býti, to be (jsem, jsi, jsme, jste). The auxiliary is left out in the third person. On mluvil. Oni mluvili.
When the personal pronoun is left out as is usually done, the auxiliary is placed after the participle: já jsem mluvil, or mluvil jsem, my jsme mluvili, or mluvili jsme.
Whenever the subject of the verb is masculine, the past participle has the masculine form; if the subject is feminine, the past participle has feminine form.
