Chiáui, all maner of keyes, but among Gunners and carters transoms, a transom is a crosse planke bolted with iron bolts to strengthen the sides of the cariages in euery of which they haue foure: the foretransom, the vpright transom, the flat transome, and the tailetransom, Italian Gunners call them quatro chiauo, sometimes they are taken for woodden rowlers to mooue Ordinance.
