Vol. II. of this very valuable work contains the "History of the Writers of Ireland," in two Parts; viz.: I. Such writers who were born in that kingdom; II. Such who, though foreigners, enjoyed preferments or offices there, or had their education in it, with an account of all the works they published.

In the first part of the work, the authors are arranged in alphabetical order, and under each is given a chronological list of his works, their various editions, sizes, and prices. In the second part, the same materials are digested under the names of the various subjects to which they refer, and under each the titles of works are again arranged chronologically. The first part is a full and comprehensive catalogue of authors and their works; the second is an equally complete and extensive encyclopædia of all manner of subjects on which books have been written. "Let me not forget to notice that wonderful work of Dr. Watt—both father and son fell victims to their zeal in its completion. Such a concentration of labour was hardly ever beheld; and it should never fail to be the library companion of all collectors."—Dibdin.
