Marks a day when safe, through dying,
Christ from depth of earth arose.
Now the cypress blossom brightens,
Now the cluster spreads and heightens,
Now the churchly lily whitens,
Waving over Jewish foes.
Death and life together striving
Hinder not the Christ reviving,
