1 7-oz. bottle 7-Up

1 tsp. baking soda

Bring dates and 7-Up to a boil, add baking soda and set aside to cool.

ADD:

1 cup sugar

2 tbsp. butter

1 egg

1½ cups flour

½ cup chopped nuts

1 tsp. vanilla
